There is no incentive for foreign investors to do business in a Guyana plagued by a greedy, shortsighted, business community, in cahoots with members of the power hungry opposition PPPC, who are willing to send in poor people to create mayhem and mischief in their quest for power.
The business community in Guyana is not known for their innovation or sharp minds. For years, they turned Guyana into nothing more than a bazaar of buys and sellers. With a few notable exceptions, they added very little to the economic growth of Guyana. Today, they fail to realise that investors will not invest in countries where people can be easily manipulated into burning properties and making the country unliveable.
Our predication is that, if this conflict continues, investors will leave, local content discussions will be moot, and considering the current trajectory of gas prices, the business community will gain nothing. Today they have everything to gain, they hold the connections, the contracts and the financial resources and will win under any government, but their ethnic supremacist notions inform their views on who should lead Guyana and for that they are willing to ‘cut their nose and spoil their face’, stupidity reigns!
